Abstract

303,297. Maclean, A. S. Feb. 28, 1928. Labelling and stamp-applying.-A machine of the kind having mechanism for feeding labels or postage stamps with the adhesive on their backs already dampened, is provided with a platform such as 13, having a cut-away portion 15 forming an aperture or recess positioned opposite the delivery side of the feeding and damping device. The card, envelope, or the like to be labelled is positioned on the platform 13, e.g. by side and rear flanges 14*, 14 respectively, relatively to the feeding and damping device, which is then actuated by pressing in the presser plate 17 to feed a stamp forwards. The stamp is pressed on the envelope &c. between the thumb and forefinger of the operator, who then lifts the envelope from the platform, at the same time twisting the stamp strip to detach the stamp. The device may be made for operation by either hand. The Provisional Specification states also that the feed mechanism may be actuated by depressing or tilting the platform.
