Abstract

552,680. Cutting-out presses. BOBST & FILS SOC. ANON., J. Oct. 15, 1941, No. 13281. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1940. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XVI] Sheets are fed to platen presses or other machines by means of grippers comprising a gripper bar 1 attached to feed chains and having a thickness not substantially less than that of the chains, the bar constituting one jaw 10 of the grippers and the other jaw being formed of either a number of pivoted grippers 7, Fig. 2, mounted in recesses 6 in the bar and normally closed by the action of springs 9 which cause the forward bent ends 11 of the grippers 7 to engage the jaw 10 or of a number of spring members 14, Fig. 4, secured by screws 13 to the gripper bar 1 and normally pressing on a wear-resisting plate 15 secured to the bar 1 which is fitted with a number of plungers 17 adapted to be pressed upwards to cause enlarged heads 18 to open the grippers for the reception or delivery of the sheets or blanks. In each case the jaws are opened by pressure applied in the direction of the arrow 12.
