Abstract

1,020,933. Feeding sheets. RANK XEROX Ltd. March 28th, 1963 [April 2, 1962], No. 12325/63. Heading B6B. [Also in Division G2] Spaced pairs of co-operating gripper jaws 81, 85 are carried by a bracket 71 secured between endless chains and are actuated by means which support the grippers during actuation thereof to prevent twisting or bending of the bracket 71. The gripper jaws are mounted on pins 75 held by curved fingers on the rear edge of the bracket and urged together by springs 76. The jaws 81 are fixed relative to the bracket and may be formed integral therewith. The jaws 85 have cam surfaces 87 and are actuated by rollers 91, 93, Fig. 2 (not shown), positioned on opposite sides of the path of gripper travel. The rollers may be rotated so that their peripheries move at the same linear speed as the grippers. In an alternative construction, both jaws are pivoted to the bracket and have cam surfaces 87, Fig. 6 (not shown). One of the rollers 91, 93 may be replaced by a fixed plate. The jaws 81 have upstanding lugs 82 to position a sheet accurately.
