Pile tables.-In a labelling-machine there are two label magazines 4, 5 having stacks of labels each contained between claw-ended longitudinal guide bars, and the magazine 5 is mounted on the magazine 4 for movement therewith and also for relative yielding movement thereto in the longitudinal direction. Since the labels 26 in the magazine 5 are smaller than the labels 10 in the magazine 4, and a stack thereof will be more compressible, the magazine 5 is arranged so that the front label therein is in advance of the front label of the magazine 4 by a distance A. The mounting means comprise lugs 32, 33 and 34, 35 on the magazines 4, 5, respectively, and a hinge shaft 36 which passes through holes in the lugs. A coil spring 39 is arranged between a stop 37 and the lug 35 to urge the latter against the lug 33, and a further spring 38 is arranged between the lugs 32, 34. The magazine 4 is mounted on a base 1 and the assembly is reciprocated over a surface 2 so that the front labels strike a gummed pick-up member 3 which detaches them from the stacks. The magazine 4 comprises an open-ended box 7 provided with longitudinally-adjustable guide bars 8 which are claw-ended, and a stack pressure plate 9 secured to a bar 13 which is urged constantly forward by a cord passing around a spring-loaded drum 18. The magazine 5 comprises a body 23 which is open at the top, a bridge 25 carrying top guide bars 24, guide bars 24 on the sides and base of the body 23, and a stack pressure plate 27 secured to a cranked bar 30 which is urged constantly forward by a cord and spring-loaded drum. All the bars 24 are adjustable longitudinally, and have clawed ends. In a modification, the body label magazine is extended and has a top opening to facilitate the insertion of a fresh stack of labels therein.
