An open-topped magazine or casing 2 for a stack of envelopes, account blanks, and the like, reciprocably mounted in the frame 1 of a manifolding or copying account apparatus, is provided with a vertically movable bottom plate 4 spring-urged upwardly when the casing is in its operative position, to clamp the stack of envelopes in position with the uppermost envelope at a predetermined level so that it may be written on, and the stack released when the casing is in its inoperative position, so that the envelopes may be removed or replaced, said bottomplate carrying pins 5, extending transversely to the direction of movement of the casing, on which cams 10 are pivotally mounted to prevent yielding movement of the bottom plate when the casing is in its operative position and the envelopes are written on, said cams partly sliding and partly rolling along stationary races 11 in the frame during reciprocating movement of the casing. The pins 5 extend through vertical slots 6 in the side walls of the casing and are urged upwardly in their operative position by leaf-springs 7. The shortest distance between the mounting hole for the pin 5 and the periphery of each cam 10 is the same and a group of cams may be mounted on a sleeve having corbelled ends whereby the cams are mounted on the pins 5 in groups. The cams are of fibrous or plastic material, or of metal, in the latter case the cams having spacers of paper material, and may be half-moon, oval or heartshaped.
