Directive signalling.- The receiving-aerial E' intended to receive signals from the direction A is shielded from disturbances arriving from the direction S by a larger receiving-aerial E<2>, situated less than a quarter of a wave-length from the aerial E<1>. The effect of induction or re-radiation due to currents in the screening aerial E<2> is neutralized by coupling the aerials by an aperiodic circuit K or by other capacitative or inductive coupling. Several screening-aerials may be arranged in an arc of a circle round the receiving-aerial E<1>, with a separate coupling K for each, so as to eliminate disturbances from any angle within the arc.
