Abstract
708,799. Aerials; aerial coupling arrangements. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (Lorenz Akt.-Ges. C.). Oct. 21, 1952, No. 26391/52. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (7) A radio antenna arrangement for metal-bodied vehicles, such as motor cars, in which the body 1 of the vehicle serves as an antenna is coupled to a feeder by means of a single-turn substantially radiation-free loop circuit 2 formed of a linear conductor mounted externally to the body in spaced parallel relationship therewith and having one end electrically connected thereto whereby a part of the outer surface of the body serves to complete the turn and the loop circuit is directly inductively coupled to the body. The length of the linear conductor is made approximately one tenth of the operating wavelength, as shown at # in Fig. 2, and the connection to the feeder is effected via series condensers C1-C2. Two such loops 2 and 3 may be employed for duplex operation.
