Abstract
643,557. Aerials ; aerial coupling arrangements. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. June 30, 1948, No. 17646. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vii)] An aerial system comprising a wing, or fuselage of an aircraft capable of acting as a dipole or unipole, e.g. as described in Specification 607,159, is arranged so that the entire wing or fuselage is symmetrically excited, by cutting a notch 1 in one edge of the active part, e.g. the wing 2. A short-circuiting conductor 3 of low resistance and low impedance is connected across the mouth of the notch, and a toroidal coil 5, or coils, encircle, or partly encircle the conductor for coupling the wing to a transmitter and/or receiver located in the aircraft.
