Line-spacing mechanism.-A variable-spacing stop consists of a revoluble spindle 10 mounted in the carriage end-plate 6 and provided, for instance, on a block 11, with two or more faces 11<a>, 11<c> arranged at different distances from the axis, and adapted to limit the return movement of the rocking arm 4 carrying the line-spacing pawl 3. The spindle may be retained in the set position by frictional engagement of the block with the end plate 6, engagement being maintained by a spring 14. The rocking arm 4 may have a slot 8 engaging an actuating-arm 7.
