Ink-ribbon mechanism.-Ink is supplied to the ink ribbon of a typewriter or like machine by a feed-member to which ink is transferred from a well by a second member driven by the feedmember, In the device shown in Figs. 2, and 3, an ink reservoir 10 is connected by tubes 12, 13 to a well 11 supporting revolubly a roller 20 and a disc 27, the disc being loosely mounted on a pin 28 and being held by a spring 29 in contact with the roller. The roller has a shallow knurled rim 21 and a slightly conical boss 22 having a notch 23 for engaging beeth 30 on the disc. The ink ribbon is held in contact with the rim 21 by a guide-roller, and on being fed rotates the disc. When the notch 23 engages one of the teeth 30, the disc is rotated one step and the ink carried by the tooth is transferred to the roller. The device is pivotally supported by a pin 44 on a bracket 40 adjustably secured to the framework, a spring 45 on the pin holding the device in normal position. To stop the supply of ink to the ink ribbon, the device is swung forward. To prevent spilling of ink when the typewriter is tipped, the well is provided at the top with a wall or window 31. The typewriter may be provided with two of the above-described devices.
