Abstract
221,274. Mylne, L. C. June 6, 1923. Engine constructions independent of cycle; cylinders, cooling.-In a double-acting engine of the type having a hollow piston a fitted with removable end pieces band a gudgeon e extending through the piston and reciprocating in slots g in the cylinder walls, external connecting-rods l being g provided, the gudgeon e is secured within the piston a by means such as set-screws f engaging bosses a<2> on the piston. The end fittings h carry the pistonrings and are bolted to flanges a<1> on the open ends of the piston a. Discs b<1> position the fittings upon the piston. Detachable cylinder heads are provided, thus permitting the gudgeon e and the piston fittings b to be secured or removed while the piston is within the cylinder.
