Cutting-edges, shaping and treating; V-slot and like blade sharpeners.-A knife f is sharpened by a rotating grinding-wheel a and is guided by detachable members b which provide, in association with the machine, casing d, a guide slot e, the members b serving also to remove the burr from the edge of the knife. The members b are disposed one at each side of the wheel and may be adjustable; they may be of curved form as shown, or may be straight, and the operative edges may be fluted, roughened or bevelled. A single member b may be employed, or the members may be in the form of metal discs one at each side of the grinding-wheel, which discs may be adjustable.
