Rack - and - pinion actuated pumps; relief devices; suction reservoirs.-Lubricant is forced by air pressure from a reservoir 1 into a relatively high pressure pump cylinder 8, the air pump and high pressure pump having a common piston-rod. The air pump plunger 9 forces air beneath a floating piston 2 in the reservoir and is reciprocated by a rack and pinion 14, 16, the other end of the rack forming the plunger 8 of the high pressure pump which is supplied with oil through the check valve 21. A relief valve 23 is provided. A portable form of the apparatus is secured to a frame which may be strapped to the back of the operator.
