Single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; suction reservoirs.-In a lubricator of the kind comprising a suction pump 3 as described in Specifications 214,986 and 225,560, the piston 5 in the reservoir 1 supplying the pump is provided with means for positively moving it axially so as to put the lubricant in the reservoir under compression. The piston is mounted on a screwed tube 63 surrounding the pump plunger 4 and carried by a rotatable member 44 which forms a nut for the screwed portion 45 of the plunger 4. When the nut 44 is rotated the piston 5 is advanced and compresses the lubricant. The piston comprises a nut 65 carrying two plates 5, 5<a> held in place by a nut 66 and pressing a packing ring 7 against the reservoir wall.
