Abstract

Closure members, sluice, wedge, and like sliding.-A vertically movable sluice valve is provided with a series of rollers arranged between the valve member and the casing, and mounted on a frame which is freely movable vertically between the valve member and casing, while a yielding facing ring is provided on the valve member or seating. The valve member a has a lateral extension a<1> parallel to the vertical guides d. and between the two are arranged frames e carrying rollers f. The upper end of each frame carries a pulley g around which passes a flexible connection h, attached to a bracket i on the valve member, and to the bolt j. The rollersare in contact with the extensions a<1> and guides d, and the frame moves at half the speed of the valve. The facing ring m of the valve may be pressed into contact with the seating by the pressure of the gas or liquid and/or a spring, or the facing ring may be fixed and the valve seating yielding. The face of the valve member may be parallel to its direction of movement, or it may be inclined.
