Abstract
252,191. Soc. Rateau. May 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Closure members, double beat.-A double beat valve particularly applicable for controlling the supply to steam turbines has one cylindrical beat adapted to fit within its seat and has the other beat shaped so that the valve gives a progressive delivery as a function of the lift. The two beats are mounted on a common spindle g and areguided by wings u. The lower cylindrical beat c, which has a length equal to one-tenth the diameter, is formed with a peripheral groove t and has the lower edge of the beat slightly chamfered,. while the upper edge of the seat d is slightly rounded. The upper beat has a shaped part a slightly less in diameter than the seat b and a cover part m having a curved lip n adapted to seat on the sharp edge of the seat. To give the valve a bias in the closing direction at the beginning of the opening movement passages r are formed in the shaped part of the valve to admit pressure beneath a piston q housed in a hollow part of the spindle and bearing against a stop on the cover o-
