944,558. Ironing-presses. McGRAWEDISON CO. May 6,1960, No. 16200/60. Heading D1A. An air-operated garment press is closed under light pressure by a cylinder-piston unit 16 and under heavy pressure by a cylinder-piston unit 22 which is so disposed, when the press is open, as to apply its force in a press-opening direction. In operation, a valve 20 is opened by a pedal 39 or lever 40 so as to open an air-operated valve 17 to admit air under pressure to the unit 16. When the piston of unit 16 has passed a post 51 air pressure opens a valve 23, so that when a valve 24 is opened by operating a lever 58, air can flow from a source 37 through valves 24 and 23 to unit 22. The press is reopened by springs 35.
