Abstract

1513779 Valves ATWOOD & MORRILL CO INC 21 July 1975 [22 July 1974] 30492/75 Heading F2V In a valve opened by pneumatic pressure in a cylinder 42 below a piston 40 and closed by a spring 38, the closing force is supplemented by hydraulic pressure in a cylinder 70 above a piston 72, which pressure is derived from a pneumatic-hydraulic pressure booster 102 fed with pneumatic pressure under the control of a solenoid valve 120. The two ends of the cylinder 70 are interconnected by a line 92 containing a control valve 94 and a solenoid valve 90 in parallel with a check valve 96, and connected to an accumulator 122. The valve has a main closure member 30 carrying a seat for a valve member 62, which on opening movement acts to connect chamber 37 to the outlet 24 prior to abutting an annular plate 58 and lifting the main closure member off its seat 26. The chamber 37 is connected to the inlet 22 via a leaky piston 32.
