Capping.-A device for capping the end of a rope comprises a split tapered wedge 3, 4 at one end of which is provided a tapered recess 6 to receive a white metal block 7 formed on the end of the rope 5. The wedge is clamped upon the rope and block by means of a casing 8 and rings 9.
