Abstract

216,813. Cheney, C. W. Jan. 5, 1924. Attaching spiked plates.-A machine for attaching spiked fastener parts to attachÚ-cases &c. is arranged to space the parts correctly on the work. The machine includes a fixed die c with a positioning cavity for the fastener part h, and an upper die comprising a pressure plate f and clinching pegs g, and operated by a handle e. A back positioning plate i is adjustable towards and away from the die c by a screw m, and is guided in its movement by pins i<3> engaging holes in the die c. Side-positioning arms i at each side of the die c are pivoted at o<3> to brackets o adjustable along the plate i. The arms j are normally urged upwardly by springs q. In operation, the work n is positioned against the back plate i and either one of the side arms j, and rests upon the other side arm which is depressed by the weight of the work or by the descent of the upper die.
