549,896. Stamping. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Oct. 29, 1941, No. 13936. Convention date, Jan. 9. [Class 83 (iv)] A rubber press platen for use in stamping sheet metal articles comprises a flanged head 17 containing strips of rubber 21 from 1 inch to 4 inches wide assembled under sufficient compression to enable them to retain their position without cementing or vulcanization. The free edges may form the operation surface but this is preferably provided by a transverse sheet 20, spot cemented at 23, and preferably of a tougher rubber. The sheets 14, 15 to be stamped are supported on dies 12, 13 on the press table 11.
