Abstract

212,711. Booth, W. Feb. 8, 1923. Clutches and speed-varying mechanism.- Hydraulic power transmission means comprises a block fixed to the driving shaft and provided with radial cylinders 6, Fig. 4, opposite pistons being connected by looped members 20, 21 engaging crank pins on an intermediate driven shaft 13, Fig. 1. The cylinders are connected by ducts 7 in which are valves 8 adjusted by a slidable member 34, levers 28, racks 33 and pinions 27. The crank chamber is filled with liquid and has a groove 9 connected to a duct 7 through a radial passage provided with a non-neturn valve. The shaft 13 is connected to a shaft 52 through reversible gearing comprising a pinion 50 on the shaft 13, an internally toothed gear 53 on the shaft 52, and a slidable member 41 externally and internally toothed at 46, 47 and carrying planet pinions 48.
