Brakes, arrangement and disposition of.-The propeller or worm shaft of a Fordson tractor or the like carries at its end a brake drum e which is situated in a housing c secured to the axle or differential casing a. A brake-band g is contracted by means of a shaft j rotated by a footlever m which acts on a cam l to force the ends of the brake-band together. A pawl m<3> on the lever acts in conjunction with a fixed rack p to retain the brake in the " on " position. The brake-housing c replaces the usual cover for the differential casing, and is itself closed by a cap h having an eye i<1> to which any vehicle may be attached for towing.
