362,556. Brake transmitting- mechanism. RUBURY J. M., Park Hall, Bradwell, Braintree, Essex. Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28487. [Class 103 (i).] In operating-gear for the front-wheel brakes of vehicles the cam element a for coacting with the brake shoes is provided with a cylindrical sleeve b. having a circular hole f engaged by a part-spherical projection e extending from the part-spherical end. d of the operating-shaft c slidingly carried at its other end in a universal-joint support on the axle or frame of the vehicle. The shaft c is provided with the usual operating-arm g and if necessary with a return spring l. In. a modification the projection e is formed as the head of a pin passing through the part d and extending into a slot in the sleeve b opposite the hole f. In a further modification the pin is provided with a block which co-operates with the sides of the slot. A dustproof cover may be fitted on the shaft c to protect the universal-joint device at the cam end. It is stated that very large angles of steering lock may be obtained by chamfering the internal edges of the sleeves b at u or by cutting gaps in the ends of the sleeves or by both methods. Reference is made to Specification 191,500, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.].
