Abstract

210,019. Ingram, H. June 26, 1923. Vacuum closures; stoppers with valves; closures completed by outstanding packing rings. - A closure for tumblers, jars, &c. comprises a cap 12 having a depending skirt 17 and provided with a small central hole 20 normally closed by a rubber or other pad 23 supported beneath it by a frame 21, Fig. 5, which rests on the lip of the tumbler &c., the cap being capable of limited vertical flexion so that excessive internal pressure will raise the top of the cap from the pad 23 to releive the pressure. A perforated disc may replace the frame 21. The invention is described as applied to a closure of the kind described in Specification 162,577 having a seating gasket 19 in a recess 18.
