Abstract

472,427. Closures for jars &c. CROWN CORK & SEAL CO., Inc. May 19, 1936, No. 14227. Convention date, July 5, 1935. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure for a jar &c. comprises an outer cap 10 and an inner resilient disc 18.. The disc 18 is domed at 23 to contact the cap and carries an annular gasket 22 of relatively inelastic rubber composition. An annular rib 26 is provided on the jaw &c. to seat the gasket which is drawn on its seating when the closure is vacuumized. Should gas or any other internal pressure be generated the edge of the disc lifts and affords relief therefor. The cap 10 is preferably of the " snap-on " type. Specifications 402,623 and 454,809 are referred to.
