Abstract
209,553. Zwoboda, A. Nov. 20, 1922. Cylinder machines; offset machines. -In printing-machines of the kind comprising a, number of formes mounted on endless moving carriers and brought successively into rolling contact with impression or offset printing surfaces, the endless carriers are made up of pivoted links provided with overlapping racks engaging driving gears, and the inking rollers are mounted on similar endless carriers with overlapping racks. The printing formes 5, four in number, are mounted on cross members 6 extending between parallel endless moving carriers composed of links 7 provided with overlapping racks 8 engaged by driving gears 13. The cross bars 9 connecting the links of the carriers are fitted with studs or rollers travelling along oval guiding grooves 11 in the machine side frames 2. The machine is adapted for either direct printing or offset printing, the formes 5 in the latter case coacting with a transfer cylinder 3, and for single colour or multi-colour work. Inking-apparatus.-One or more sets of inking rollers 14, 15 are mounted on endless moving carriers made up of links 18 provided with overlapping racks 19 engaged by driving gears 24, the links 18 being connected by cross bars 20 having projecting ends fitted with studs or rollers 21 travelling along oval guiding grooves 22 in the machine side frames 2. The rollers 14, 15 are inked when passing messenger rollers 27 reciprocated to contact with fountain rollers 26 bv means of cams 28 actuated from a longitudinal shaft by bevel gearing 31, 32. Working up of the ink on the rollers 14, 15 is effected by rollers 16, 17 positively rotated by pinions on their shafts engaging oval racks 22<x> on the machine side frames.
