Abstract

Regulating delivery by inertia devices connected to pump barrel.-In a pump comprising a double-acting piston working in a cylinder or two pistons in two cylinders g, h, the cylinders are so arranged as to oscillate an inertia device, which may consist of a weighted lever u controlled by spring y, z, and oscillated about a pivot w by pistons q, r which are reciprocated by the pressure fluid from the cylinders g, h. In another form, a piston reciprocates in a cylinder open at both ends to the two ends of a double-acting pump barrel!, and is connected to an oscillating fly-wheel controlled by a piston exposed to the pressure of the pump delivery; or the piston may be connected at a variable point to a pendulum. In another form, the inertia device is a pipe 21 filled with liquid and open to the pump barrels. The pump barrels may be radially arranged, the liquid pipe being circumferential to the barrels. The length of the liquid column may be adjusted by means of a telescopic member 64 in the pipe. The pump may drive a ratchet or hydraulic motor 39 through pistons 33, 34 working in cylinders open to the pump barrels. Specification 9029/13, [Class 69 (ii), Hydraulic presses &c.], is referred to.
