Abstract
206,538. Roe & Co., Ltd., A. V., and Chadwick, R. May 8, 1922. Rod couplings and joints; tapered spigot-andsocket joints; ball and socket joints. - A joint for aircraft frames and the like comprises a tapered spigot 8 and a socket 5 on which is screwed a nut 9 having a flange 10 engaging a flange 7 on the spigot. The nut 9 is provided with end recesses 11 which may be engaged to lock the nut by lugs 15 on a saddle or plate 12 secured to the spigot by a set-screw 14. The end 16 of the plate 11 may be turned up to lock the set-screw. The spigot and socket may be riveted or soldered to the tubes or formed integrally with them. The socket and spigot may alternatively be spherical.
