Abstract

206,257. Smith, H. Aug. 9, 1922. Vehicle lamps. - A rear signal lamp comprises a glass or like face plate 3 with two indications, one a transparent red disc 3a continuously illuminated by a lamp 12 to form the rear light, and the other a stencilled sign 3b such as STOP illuminated by a second lamp 6 partitioned off from the first and controlled by a switch closed by the brake, the rear surface of the face plate being prismatic in structure as shown in Figs. 3<a> and 3b. The lamp 6 is provided with a reflector 5, and the translucent part 3a may be formed as a lens. The container 1 has a lip 2 to which the face plate is secured by a channel shaped strip 4, and a transparent opening 13 is provided to illuminate the number plate.
