Abstract

Reciprocating-tool machines; rotating-tool machines. - To enable operations such as staking, softening, scurving, buffing, fluffing and brushing, to be carried out in the staking machine, there is mounted on the upper arm 15, in addition to a mechanicallydriven buffing wheel 10, a rotating bush 11; these devices work in conjunction with felt rollers or pads 23 carried by the lower arm 20, while associated with the bush and wheel on the upper arm there is a hard rubber or felt roller 18 to operate in conjunction with the staking blades 24. Alternatively, the brush 11 and wheel 10 may be mounted on the lower arm and the felt rollers or pads 23 on the upper. The brush and wheel are driven through belts 25 by an electric motor 12 carried by the arm. A small fan or vacuum extracting-plant may be attached for the purpose of raising the nap of the leather and collecting dust.
