Abstract

8145. Wattles, C. B. April 4. Dust, confining and expelling on generation.-The wood-dust raised by a floor-dressing machine is continuously removed by a fan and deposited in a bag which can be detached from the machine and emptied. The floor-dressing machine comprises a frame a running on wheels c, to which is pivoted a handle b and which bears at the front a rotary dressing-roll g covered with sandpaper or the like. The roll is enclosed in a hood m, which nearly touches the floor at the rear and from which a pipe n leads to the casing of a fan k. The fan is mounted on the driving-shaft of an electric or other motor e, which rotates the dressing-roll by the belt i. The dust raised by grinding from the floor is drawn away by the fan and deposited in the detachable bag o of burlap or the like.
