Sweeping-machines.-One or more pipes 20 are arranged behind the brush 5 so that an air blast may be directed on to the road sursurface to blow away the dust prior to tarring. The dust is either blown beneath the brush or out to the side of the road surface. The blast is derived from a centrifugal blower 18 driven from the road wheels 3 of the machine. A shield 22 prevents the dust resettling on the road surface.
