4835. Wattles, C. B. Feb. 27. Surfacing and polishing ; sand-papering.-In a floor-dressing machine, in which the sand-paper &c. roller is carried in a frame pushed over the floor by a handle b<4> and driven through a flexible shaft by a motor mounted on a separate movable carriage, the roller is put out of action without stopping the motor by having cross - bars b<5> attached to the frame, so that on depression of the handle they come in contact with the floor and act as a fulcrum, raising the roller from the floor as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 2.
