Abstract
4816. Wattles, C. B. Feb. 27. Surfacing, and polishing; sand-papering.-In a machine for dressing wood floors, the pressure of the roller on the floor when surfacing with sandpaper &c. is adjusted by moving the axle on which the wheels b are mounted along a slot a<6> in the frame by screws a<8>. The roller c is carried in bearings a<3> in arms a<2> extending from the front of the frame a, which runs on wheels b. The roller is driven by an electric or other suitable motor f, mounted on a plate f adjustable by screws a<9> longitudinally along the frame a to adjust the driving-belt g. Power is supplied to the motor along flexible leads e, which pass down the handle d by which the apparatus is moved over the floor. To raise the roller off the floor when polishing with a cloth-covered roller, a castor h is piovided, mounted on a screwed pin h<1> vertically adjustable through a lug a<11> on the frame. Rubber buffers are provided at the ends of the arms a<2>.
