Abstract
205,497. LiÞvre, G. P. Oct. 13, 1922, [Convention date]. Catches yielding to pull and pressure multiple fastenings -Cams or fingers are pivoted in the frames of doors, windows, panels, &c., and are rocked by the door, &c., in closing to hold it in the closed position until opening-pressure is applied. As shown in Fig 2, a cam 4 is pivoted in a recess 2 in the frame 1 and normally occupies the position shown in dotted lines under the action of the spring 6. When the door 7 is swung into its closing position in the direction of the arrow F, its end 8 engages the finger 5 of the cam to rock it on its pivot 3 into the position shown by the full lines, the end of the door being shaped to fit the cam. The door is opened by pushing. In the form shown in Fig. 5 a finger 11 is mounted on a pivot 12 on a resilient member 13 in the door frame. The finger is held normally by the spring 6 in the position shown in the dotted lines. On closing the door 7, the end 17 engages the finger 11 and rocks it into the position shown in the full lines when the spring 15 forces it into the recess 16 in the door edge, holding the door till pressure is applied. A number of cams or fingers may be pivoted in the door frame on separate pivots or on a common pivot. The cams or fingers may further be formed as members extending the whole length of the door frame. The pivot 3 of the cam 4 may be resiliently mounted if it is desired to provide the cam with a great degree of eccentricity.
