Jackets and covers.-A pneumatic tyre or outer cover for wheels is made up of a spirally-wound band or a series of juxtaposed bands of canvas, cord or other textile fabric, the band or each band consisting of a number of superposed layers of fabric. The bands a, a<2> may extend from edge to edge of the tyre preferably in an inclined direction, successive layers being oppositely inclined or may extend circumferentially around the tyre. Each band may be formed from a strip of fabric by folding and a laterally rejecting flap a<1> of single thickness may be left at one side, as shown in Fig. 9. In building up a beaded cover, the bead material c is applied after the first layer of bands, the other layers being worked over the beads. The bands may be pressed or moulded to be narrower near the edge than at the tread of the tyre.
