Abstract

609,419. Wheel tyres. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. March 13, 1946, No. 7885. Convention date, May 7, 1945. [Class 144 (i)] A repair patch for a tyre cover comprises superposed sets of cord fabric plies, each set consisting of a base layer with its cords adapted to extend transversely from bead to bead of the tyre, and two smaller layers with cords crossing one another. and those of the base layer. Fig. 1 shows a developed sectional plan of one form of the finished portion, and Fig. 3 the lay of the plies in the building-up. As shown, the patch comprises three longitudinal cord plies 1, 11, 14 and three pairs 3-4, 12-13, 15-16 with their cords arranged on the bias to one another and those of the plies 1, 11, 14. Each of the bias-cord layers has two diagonallyopposite corners within, and the other corners extending beyond, the longitudinal edges of the underlying strip. The inner and outer layers are faced with rubber 17, 19 and Holland cloth 18, 20.
