Abstract

851,898. Pneumatic tyres. PNEUMATIQUES & CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE KLEBER-COLOMBES. Jan. 18, 1957 [Maich 10, 1956], No. 1927/57. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre comprises a carcass 1 of parallel-cord plies wheiein the cords are disposed in radial planes containing the tyre axis, and a " girder belt " as defined in Specification 467/13 composed of two groups of pairs of superposed parallel-cord plies 6, 7 and 8, 9 with the cords of the layers of a pair in each group in symmetrically crossed relation relative to the mid-circumferential line, the cords of the said pair of one group being inclined at an angle of between 35 and 45 degrees to the mid-circumferential line of the tyre, and the cords of said other group pair being inclined at between 8 and 16 degrees to the said line. The cords of the carcass and the " girder belt " plies may be metallic or of natural or synthetic textile material, and the " girder belt " plies may be disposed wholly or partly, above, below or between the carcass plies. The " girder belt " plies may be flat in transverse section, suitable rubber filler strips being provided to compensate foi the carcass contour according to the above or below disposition of the plies relative to the carcass plies.
