Abstract

149,853. White, P. P., and Brooks, A. Sept. 22, 1919. Tread bands; jackets and covers with coloured layers to indicate wear.-A removable tread 4 is adapted to fit in a circumferential recess 3 in the cover of a pneumatic tyre cover, the recess having a central subsidiary groove 7 and lateral subsidiary grooves 9, 10. Projections 6, Fig. 2, in the floor of the central groove fit into recesses in the tread. Beads 11 may 'be formed in the edges of the tread to fit into the lateral grooves. A strip of canvas, coloured rubber, &c. may be formed in the tread portion so as to indicate wear. The upper part of the portion 2 may be of rubber, and the under part of the tread may be of canvas.
