Abstract

Attaching spiked plates; stapling, hand tools for.-A sealing-tool of the lever-operated plunger type, particularly applicable to pronged seals of the kind described in Specification 198,060, has a slidable and rotatable barrel or holder a at the end of the plunger c, and diametral notches are provided at the mouth of the barrel to receive the string or the like of a tied parcel, bag, &c., when the plunger is depressed. Stepped notches or two or more pairs of notches of different widths may be provided for different thickness of string &c. The plunger c is linked to a lever k pivoted in a bifurcated extension l at the end of one limb h of a U-shaped member j, and slides within a hole through the limb h. The lever is normally maintained in a raised position by a spring m. The lower end b of the plunger c is provided with a flange g normally held in abutment with a flange f on the barrel a by a helical spring d around the plunger between the flange f and a pin e. The arm q of the tool has an anvil portion o which is inserted under the parcel &c. to be sealed. The seal is inserted with the spaces between its prongs in alignment with the notches of the barrel, and the barrel is then rotated until the notches are disposed in alignment with the string &c. on the parcel &c.
