Abstract

Vehicular lamps; lensholders special to lanterns.-A vehicle lamp comprises a body a made wholly or mainly of glass or other vitreous or ceramic material and coated externally with a metal, such as copper, of such thickness as to prevent splintering in case of breakage. The body is first coated with mercury or with a paint containing metallic powder so as to serve as a reflector, the copper then being deposited electrolytically thereon. The body is provided at its forward end with a screw thread or bayonet formations whereby a metal ring d carrying the lens is secured in position. The lens may be secured in the ring either by a spring ring g as shown, or by spinning the ring, or it may be clamped against a rubber washer provided on the lamp front. Rearwardly the body is provided with a boss h adapted to receive the lamp holder k, which is secured in position by lock nuts m, l.
