Abstract
202,971. Saklatwalla, B. D. Aug. 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Alloys.-Iron alloys contain chromium and a smaller proportion of copper, the amount of chromium being such as to render the alloy hard or non-corrodible, and the amount of copper such as to render the alloy malleable or ductile. The proportion of copper may range from 0.15-0.5 per cent for alloys containing 0.3-3.5 per cent of chromium to 0.5-4.5 per cent for alloys containing up to 14 per cent of chromium. Carbon and silicon may be present in the small proportions necessary to ensure the required properties; for example, there may be less than 1 per cent of each.
