Abstract
202,810. Boyd, J. July 17, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Stopping pipes and tubes. - Relates to boiler flue stoppers of the kind comprising front and rear obturating members, d, k respectively, mounted on a central rod g screw-threaded at both ends, the forward member being of double conical shape with a rectangular projection d on its face by means of which it may be removed from the rod on which it is screwed. The forward end of the flue is closed by expanding the copper ferrule e, which is provided according to the invention with packing e' in grooves e<2> in its periphery, against the sides of the flue by rotating the squared end q of the rod, at the same time forcing the flange l of the rear member k with its packing ring n, against the rear end of the tube. The ferrule e is held in position by a washer f carried on the rod g. Specifications 124,375 and 172,059 are referred to.
