Abstract

200,732. France, A. Sept. 1, 1922. Upward - current classifiers; materials, supplying. - Mineral particles s are thoroughly soaked with water prior to washing in wet-sorting apparatus. The fine mineral particles and water are pumped from a lower supply cistern a into an upper constant level tank d which is provided with an adjustable vertical partition g having an adjustably inclined flap j. The particles pass downwardly through the tank d on one side of the partition g and the thoroughly soaked particles are discharged together with water through a valve i and a pipe e into wet-sorting apparatus f, f<1>. The insufficiently wetted particles pass under the flap j and are conveyed by an adjustable stream of water from the valve i up through the tank d on the other side of the partition g and are discharged through an overflow pipe k back into the lower supply cistern a for a circulation. In a modified form of apparatus the vertical partition g is replaced by a vertically movable cylindrical partition which forms a circular discharge channel for the insufficiently wetted particles.
