Abstract
690,965. Regulating liquid levels, AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Feb. 2, 1951 [Feb. 2, 1950]. No. 2661/51. Class 123 (i). The supply to a mixer 12, Fig. 1, of lye &c. from a tank 7 having a liquid inlet 5 from a main feed tank 1, an outlet 11, and a constant level overflow 8, is regulated by vertical adjustment of said outlet and overflow relatively to one another. The inlet pipe 5 is fitted with a pump 4, and the discharge from the overflow 8 is directed back to the inlet of said pump through a pipe 10. The overflow 8 may be in the form of a funnel suspended from a threaded spindle 15 which co-acts with a fixed nut device 17 and is rotatable by a hand wheel 16, and, preferably, the edge 44 of the funnel is corrugated, Fig. 11. In a modification the funnel, or its equivalent, is fixed and the tank 7 is adapted to be raised or lowered. Fig. 14 shows a construction of tank 7f in which the overflow 8f is fixed and the outlet pipe 11f, longitudinally perforated, is adjustable within an outlet 54; liquid is supplied to the tank 7f through an inlet 5f, and the overflow is directed to a lower tank 57 communicating with the feed tank through an outlet 56. Several other modifications are also described.
