Abstract

Dye images are formed corresponding to an imagewise distribution of a catalyst, especially a photographic silver image, by treating a hydrophilic colloid layer, containing the catalyst and having an associated non-diffusible redox dye releaser, with an aqueous alkaline solution in the presence of a pyrazolidone silver halide developing agent and a peroxide oxidising agent so that a corresponding imagewise distribution of diffusible dye is formed and then removing the diffusible dye from its layer either by receiving it on a dye image-receiving layer or by washing with an aqueous liquid. In the Examples the peroxide is H2O2.
