Weft-catching motions for change-box looms. - To prevent trailing-in of the wefts, a series of catch bands for ra.ising the wefts of inactive shuttles are passed through porcelain eyelets &c. n in loops n<1> - - n<3> acted upon by springs o and connected by cords or chains &c. h<1> - - h<3> to levers f<1> - - f<3> pivoted on a bracket e. An adjustable member g on the shuttJe-box rod b acts on these levers f<1> - - f', which correspond to the shuttle boxes a<1> - - a<3>, so that when, for example, the box a<2> is raised into active position, the levers f<1>, f<2>are rocked and the cords &c. h<1>, h<2> raise the corresponding eyelets. These therefore raise the catch bands, which lift the wefts of the inactive shuttles clear of the path of the active shuttle. The catch bands may be formed from one or more warp ends which are threaded through the eyelets n and around pins or guides on the breast beam over the back tube or bearer of the loom, in a manner described, and are then tied in to the edge of the warp so as to be woven into the fabric. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement wherein the cords &c. connected to the bell-crank levers are guided through eyelets, and the bell-crank levers are provided with a metal eye with thread and lock nuts.
