Abstract
258,031. Dyson, J. W., and Cockayne, W. H. July 2, 1925. Shedding-motions.-In making internal selvages, two stationary needles A are provided at their forward ends with eyelets a<1> and one or more warp threads a<2> are passed through each eyelet. Binding threads d from a rotatable bobbin D pass around a swinging bar &c. d<2> around the back rest to eyelets in two endless bands B, B<1>, which are guided by guides b<1> and pass around the needles A and around a drum or flanged wheel b on a shaft C. This shaft is turned by means of an adjustable disc c<1> connected by a flexible connection c' to a jack lever &c., the return motion being effected by one or more springs c<3>. The binding threads are thereby crossed under the needle threads a<2>. One or more picks of weft are then inserted to lock the loops thus formed, and the binding threads are then crossed back. Each binding thread may be lapped around one or more warp threads additional to the needle threads a<2>.
