Abstract

521,096. Smallware looms. DAVIS, W. H., and FAIRE BROS. & CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1938, No. 29352 [Class 142 (ii)] In a loom for weaving one or more narrow bands the weft needles 27 are clamped to bent arm 30 carried by a bar 29 which is moved to and fro across the warps by links and levers 37, 38, 41 connected to the slay 15. cam races 35 on the bar 29 and rollers 36 on the guides 31, 32 cause the bar and the needles to move also in the direction of the warp Graphite-treated metal strip 33, 34 are placed between the bar 29 and its guides 31, 32. The barbed needle 60 for interlocking the weft loops at one selvage is carried by a slide 46 reciprocated in the direction of the warp by a cam 47 and a cross slide 48 operated by a lever &c. 50 from an eccentric on the loom crank shaft. The needle barb is depressed at the proper time by a lever 55 carried by the slide 46 and engaging a fixed pin 57.
